The All Progressives Congress (APC) national committee in charge of screening aspirants for the state congress in Benue says it has conducted the exercise.

The state congress is scheduled for Tuesday.

The committee’s chairman, Nafiu Kuringafa, told journalists on Monday in Makurdi, the state capital, that the exercise was successfully completed.

Mr Kuringafa stated that aspirants were screened in accordance with the party’s national secretariat guidelines, adding that the positions were unopposed.

The chairman appealed to the Benue APC family to conduct a hitch-free state congress.

Earlier, the Benue APC chairman, Benjamin Omale, said the party was committed to a credible, transparent, and successful state congress.

“The work you are about to undertake will not only shape the leadership structure of our party in Benue but will also determine the level of unity, stability, and preparedness we carry into future political engagements.

“We assure you that Benue is ready. Our members are committed to peace, orderliness, and discipline throughout this congress.

“We recognise that internal democracy is the foundation of party growth, and we are fully prepared to cooperate with you to ensure that every guideline and constitutional provision of our great party is strictly adhered to,” he said.

Mr Omale commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his continuous support to the party and its growth.

He urged aspirants and delegates to approach the congress with a spirit of sportsmanship.

“Let us remember that beyond individual ambition lies a greater goal, the unity and progress of our party and the prosperity of Benue State.

“There will be no victor and no vanquished; at the end of this exercise, the true winner must be our great party,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Screening Appeal Committee, headed by Mohammed Dambatta, told journalists that no appeal was received.
