Khamenei’s wife dies from injuries sustained in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes
Mansoureh Khojasteh, the wife of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, died on Monday, a few days after her husband was killed in airstrikes carried out by the U.S. and Israel.
State-owned media reported that Mrs Khojasteh died from injuries she sustained during U.S.-Israel airstrikes on her husband’s residence on Saturday.
Mrs Khojasteh, 78, was married to Mr Khamenei in 1964 and was his only wife. Mr Khamenei, 86, had been in power since 1989.
The wife of the Supreme Leader of Iran became one of the casualties of Operation Epic Fury, launched by the U.S. and Israel over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear programme.
At least 40 members of Mr Khamenei’s regime were also killed in a wave of attacks launched over the weekend.
In retaliation, Iran fired several missiles at U.S. bases in Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, vowing to take revenge for the death of its slain Supreme Leader and regime officials.
