Hit-and-run: British rapper Ghetts jailed 12 years for killing Nepalese student
British rapper Justin Clark-Samuel, aka Ghetts, has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars for causing the death of a university student in a hit-and-run crash.
The rapper was sentenced by the London Old Bailey Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing the fatal crash that took the life of a young university student.
He was sentenced to 12 years for driving over the legal limit, and he is also disqualified for 17 years.
The victim, 20-year-old Yubin Tameng, a university student from Nepal, died after being hospitalised for two days following a hit-and-run by Ghetts’ BMW M5 on October 18, 2025.
CCTV footage presented in court showed the rapper driving above 60mph in a 30mph zone, hitting the young student and failing to stop at the scene.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC, who presided over the case, barred the rapper from driving for 17 years and described the incident as “quite appalling” and simply “shocking”.
The prosecutors said, “We built a comprehensive case against Clarke-Samuel, focusing on CCTV footage, toxicology, and analysis of his mobile data to pinpoint his route through London.
“Justin Clarke-Samuel knew he was in no fit state to drive and there was clear evidence of his excessive speed and disregard for road users as he drove incredibly dangerously across our city,”
