Three alleged fraudsters arraigned for posing as woman on internet

Three men on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, charged with faking to be caucasians on social media with intent to commit fraud.
The defendants are Owoade Fuad, 29, Yinka Saheed, 26, and Egbewale Dare, 29, were arraigned on charge of misrepresentation.
The prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori, alleged that Owoade on March 3, at about 9.00a.m. with intent to defraud , falsely represented himself on Facebook, TikTok and Zangi app using number 10- 25716493 as Duran Diana.
Mr Igori said that the defedant also claimed to be Ashley Cooke, a white lady living in USA, an information which he knew to be false.
He also alleged that Yinka with intent to defraud falsely represented himself on Gmail and iMessenger apps as Carol Hughes and Annah Kaylah, respectively, using phone number ±1(859)2490613, which he knew to be false.
Mr Igori also alleged Egbewale of falsely representing himself to be Michael Steven, a white man living in USA on Facebook app with intent to defraud , which he knew to be false.
He said that the offences were committed at Ologuneru area of Ibadan.
Mr Igori said the offences contravened the provisions of Section 484 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, T. G. Daodu, admitted the defendants to N1 milion bail each, and with two sureties each in like sum.
Daodu said that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner, while the second surety must be a blood relative.
She , thereafter, adjourned the matter until April 8, for hearing.
