Army chief Waidi Shaibu has promised improved security in Benue’s troubled communities.

Mr Shaibu made the promise recently in Makurdi during his maiden operational visit to Nigerian Army formations in the state.

The army chief stated that additional troops had already been deployed to strengthen ongoing operations and positively impact security outcomes in Benue.

He said he was in Benue to assess operational readiness and ensure formations effectively tackle the security challenges plaguing the state.

Mr Shaibu commended Nigerian Army formations in the state for their professionalism and resilience.

The army chief reiterated that the troops’ professionalism and resilience had not gone unnoticed, reminding personnel that their primary responsibility was the defence of the nation’s territorial integrity.

Mr Shaibu assured the troops that their welfare remained his top priority, adding that the Nigerian Army would continue to provide an enabling environment for personnel to excel in their chosen career.

The army chief described the military as a noble profession and urged the soldiers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and focused at all times.

He further admonished them to diligently carry out their duties and obey lawful orders from their officers to enhance national security.
