The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe, says cultural preservation is a pillar for peace building and sustainable growth.

Mrs Balarabe was speaking at the 2026 Khituk Gwong cultural festival in Kagoma, Jema’a Local Government Area.

She said the state government had consistently supported traditional institutions as custodians of peace and values

She commended the Gwong people for the commitment they continue to demonstrate in hosting their cultural festival annually, as well as their determined efforts to preserve their rich heritage.

According to her, Gwong festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural exchange, an avenue for youth engagement and a rallying point for peace and communal harmony and a bridge between generations.

She restated the support of the state government for initiatives that promote cultural sustainability and communal harmony.

In his remarks, the Kpop Gwong, Paul Wyom, described the festival as an event that celebrates peace.

Mr Wyom lauded Governor Uba Sani-led administration for the improved security in the state.

He used the occasion to appeal for the rehabilitation of the Kafanchan-Kwoi road to boost economic activities in the area.

The theme of this year’s festival is: “Celebrating Our Roots,  Advancing Our Future and Preserving the Gwong Heritage”.
