Ramadan: Cleric tasks Muslims on humility, tolerance

An Islamic cleric, Fadeelatu Sheikh Ibrahim Yusuf, has urged leaders at all levels to embrace humility and tolerance, describing the virtues as essential ingredients for effective governance.
Mr Yusuf, a Missioner of Daru Soliheem Arabic and Islamic Centre, Ota, Ogun State, made the call on Sunday during the annual Salako family Ramadan lecture (Tafsir) held in Ota.
The event was organised by the Ogun Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
Speaking on the topic, “Leadership and Followership in Islam: Lessons from the Life of Prophet Muhammad,” Mr Yusuf said Prophet Muhammad (SAW), remains the perfect model of leadership for Muslims, particularly those occupying positions of authority.
He said leaders must emulate the Prophet’s virtues of humility, patience, and tolerance to ensure justice, peace and good governance in society.
Mr Yusuf described Ramadan as a period for deep spiritual reflection and guidance through the teachings of the Qur’an.
He prayed that Allah would grant Muslim faithful the strength to successfully complete the holy month.
In her remarks, MsSalako-Oyedele thanked the clerics and Muslim faithful who attended the lecture, noting that the Tafsir had become an annual gathering for the family.
She called for unity and a shared sense of purpose among Awori clans, Yewaland, Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
In his goodwill messages, one of the dignitaries at the event and Chairman of the Ogun State House of Assembly Commission, Suraj Adekunbi, described the initiative as commendable.
He said the programme promotes spiritual growth, unity and community development among Muslims in Ota Awori and beyond.
The programme also featured special prayers offered for Nigeria, Ogun State, its leaders, Ota and the entire Aworiland.
