A lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies at Lagos State University, Nosirudeen Onibon, has enjoined Muslims observing the Ramadan fast to pray for global peace and stability.

The Islamic scholar, who spoke on Wednesday in Epe, said that the period of Ramadan called for intense prayers, spiritual reflection, supplication for humanity and observing the fast.

According to him, the current global challenges, including conflicts, economic hardship and social unrest, require sincere prayers from the faithful.

The scholar urged Muslims to use the holy month to seek divine intervention for leaders and nations so that policies that promote peace, justice and development could prevail.

Mr Onibon also urged Muslims to demonstrate compassion, charity and unity during the fasting period by supporting the needy and less privileged in their communities.

He added that acts of kindness and prayers during Ramadan would greatly strengthen harmony and peaceful coexistence among people of different backgrounds.

He consequently advised Muslims to uphold the true teachings of Islam by promoting tolerance, discipline and mutual respect, adding that such virtues were essential for achieving global peace.
