The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested four suspected phone snatchers in a raid at Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Kano.

He said the suspects whose ages ranged between 17 and 27 reside at Dorayi Babba and were apprehended in connection with public disturbance, attacks and snatching handsets.

He stated, “The suspects were arrested after a good Samaritan gave a report to the NSCDC outpost in the area.”

According to him, the informant alerted operatives that dozens of hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons had gathered around a community school in Dorayi Babba, attacking worshippers observing Taraweeh prayers and passers-by.

He added that the hoodlums deprived residents of their belongings, including mobile phones, before they were apprehended.

He added, “During the operation, four suspects were arrested after attacking an individual and snatching his phone.”

Mr Idris-Abdullahi said that a sharp knife and two parcels of marijuana were recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest.

He said investigation into the case had been concluded and the suspects would be charged to court.

The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state and urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
