Osun: Scavenger remanded for damaging CCTV camera

The Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a scavenger, Jimoh SAAI, 22, facing trial over alleged N2 million CCTV camera damage.
Mr SAAI, who is without legal representation in court, pleaded guilty to a four-count charge bordering on burglary, forceful entry, damage, and stealing.
The magistrate, Abosede Sarumi, ordered that the defendant should be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ile-Ife.
She also adjourned the case until March 30.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Irewole Jimoh, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 11, 2026, around 1:05 a.m., at AVIC Farm, Akinola Area, Ipetumodu.
Mr Jimoh said the defendant unlawfully burgled the electric powerhouse belonging to the complainant, Adedeji Fola, with the intent to steal.
He said the defendant unlawfully entered the property and willfully damaged the CCTV camera, valued at N2 million.
The prosecutor further said the defendant stole eight batteries valued at N1.2 million and one sprayer box worth N100,000.
He said the offences contravened sections 383, 390(9), 411, 412, and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
