Muhammad Labaran, the chief imam of the Central Mosque, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, and Danjuma Gambo, leader of the House Community, have called for peaceful coexistence among nations.

They made the call this Friday at the prayer ground in Abakaliki to mark Eid-el-Fitr.

The clerics emphasised that peaceful coexistence was essential for national development, unity, and stability.

Mr Labaran said, ”My message is for peaceful coexistence among nations and our leaders to be properly guided.

“To the faithful, uphold virtues of humility, charity, patience, and tolerance to ensure a peaceful and united nation.”

According to him, the Eid-el-Fitr celebration signifies the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan.

He explained that the celebration was a time for self-reflection, humility, generosity, empathy for the less privileged, love for all and sundry, peaceful co-existence, harmony, and unity of mankind.

Mr Labaran described Ramadan as a month of spiritual retreat and character reformation.

He further admonished Muslim faithful to continue to adhere to the spiritual and social benefits of Ramadan lessons.

In his remarks, Mr Gambo expressed satisfaction with the significant shifts among the faithful, especially the youths, during the spiritual exercise.

He called for such dedication to continue and urged governments to engage them for development and peace.

Mr Gambo thanked Allah for the successful Ramadan exercise and peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebration.

“The nation has suffered a lot in terms of insecurity, and without peace, there will be no development. I pray Allah to bring an end to the conflict among nations,” Mr Gambo said.

Hadiza Aliu, women’s leader, House Community in the state, commended leaders of the current administration and prayed for Allah’s wisdom for progress.
