The special adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on security matters, Ahmed Abdul Usman, has urged Sokoto residents to remain vigilant and prioritise security consciousness in their daily activities.

Mr Usman made the call on Monday, during a sallah homage visit to the local government chairman and the district head, Sarkin Gobir of Gwadabawa, Lawal Zayyana, in his hometown in the Gwadabawa LGA.

While describing security as a shared responsibility, the aide said timely reporting of suspicious movements and cooperation with security agencies were critical in preventing threats and maintaining law and order.

Addressing community members, the retired military officer reassured residents that the state government, under the leadership of Mr Aliyu, was fully committed to restoring lasting peace and strengthening security architecture across Sokoto State.

He highlighted ongoing efforts, including enhanced collaboration with security agencies, community engagement initiatives, and strategic interventions to tackle emerging security challenges.

The special adviser called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth to continue supporting government efforts by promoting unity, discouraging criminal activities, and fostering peaceful coexistence among citizens.

As part of his sallah engagements, Mr Usman visited the general hospital in Gwadabawa, where he donated cash assistance to patients and their relatives and offered prayers for their quick recovery.

According to him, the gesture reflected the importance of compassion and community support, especially during festive periods.

He further extended his condolences to the commissioner for home affairs, Isa Tambagarka, on the demise of his sister, praying for the repose of her soul and for the family to have the strength to bear the loss.

Mr Usman reaffirmed that with sustained cooperation between the government and the people, Sokoto State would continue to witness improved security, peace, and development.

He stressed the need for collective efforts to sustain peace and stability across the state.
