Car dealer remanded for allegedly defrauding clients N100 million

The police on Tuesday brought a 40-year-old car dealer, Adedeji Olusola, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N100 million fraud.
The defendant, of no fixed address, was charged with obtaining money under false pretences.
The prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence within the Ado-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti magisterial districts between January and February 2026.
He alleged that the defendant defrauded Adedayo Olumuyiwa and 11 other complainants of N100 million.
Mr Adeniyi said that the defendant, who claimed to be a car dealer, obtained the sum of N100 million from Adedayo Olumuyiwa and 11 other complainants on the pretext of selling cars to them.
He said the offence contravened Section 329 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, and Sections 1(3) and 11 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006.
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional facility pending issuance of legal advice.
She adjourned the case until April 23 for mention.
