MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited, a subsidiary of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, has introduced a customer-focused service, the Quick Response Team, to enhance service delivery in Enugu State.

The QRT, inaugurated on Tuesday in Enugu, was designed to reduce the time required to repair electrical faults across the state.

Speaking after engineers took an oath of safety and service pledge in Enugu, the managing director of MainPower, Ernest Mupwaya, said the initiative would deliver speed, responsiveness and accountability to customers.

Mr Mupwaya said the launch of the QRT demonstrated the company’s commitment to taking concrete actions to improve its operations.

According to him, the team is structured to enhance operational efficiency by ensuring that faults across the network are addressed promptly, efficiently and safely.

“Our engineers and field teams have undergone targeted training, not only in rapid fault resolution but also in customer service and safety. This is because resolving a fault is not just a technical task but a service to customers, businesses and communities.

“Fully equipped response teams will operate round the clock across six operational districts, with two teams each in Abakpa and Ogui, and one each in Nsukka and Awkunanaw,” he said.

Mr Mupwaya said a total of 27 teams had been strategically deployed to ensure effective 24-hour service, reduce response times and improve coordination.

Also speaking, a MainPower board member, Steve Dike, said the board was committed to supporting management in driving the transformation.

Mr Dike said the board would continue to provide the necessary oversight to ensure that the QRT initiative remained impactful and sustainable.

“To our customers and stakeholders, this is a clear signal that MainPower is committed to improving service delivery,” he said.

Chuka Akunne, the commissioner in charge of organisational support at the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission, commended the initiative.

Mr Akunne said the commission would continue to support MainPower in delivering quality services to Enugu residents.
