Man in court over alleged N742,000 fraud

The police prosecutor alleged that the defendant was indicted, during an audit report.

A 30-year-old man, Uteh Monday on Wednesday, stood before a Magistrates’ Court in Asokoro, Abuja, in answer to charges bordering on alleged fraud.

The defendant who resides at the New Nyanya area, is standing trial on a two-count charge of causing a breach of trust, and cheating.

He however,  pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Helen Ochai, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in November 2024.

He was alleged to have criminally diverted the sum of N742,000 from his principal’s account to his own account.

Ms Ochai alleged that the defendant was indicted, during an audit report.

According to the prosecution, the defendant consequently, confessed to the crime during police investigation.

The Magistrate, Lami Sani, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with one surety in like sum.

Sani adjourned the case until May 13, for trial.
