The Catholic Diocese of Wakuri has raised concern over alleged sinister plans by the Fulani ethnic militia to launch attacks on several communities in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

A statement signed by its Vicar Administration and chairman, Peace Committee, Anthony Bature, on Wednesday, referenced a viral video from an organisation warning of imminent attack.

“There is video circulating on social media originating from an organisation “Equipping the Persecuted”. The Executive Director Judd Saul warns of an imminent attack beginning from March 23, 2026 by Fulani Ethnic Militia in Tankun, Chanchanji and Tor Damisa ward of Donga Local Government Area among other places,” the statement said.

The diocese, which noted that such an attack was already preempted in Chanchanji from March 21, 2026, said it was repelled by the military.

Noting more of the terrorists are regrouping in several places in Takun LGA, it stated that the news of the attacks has deepened fear and forced people to flee their homes in search of safety elsewhere.

“More and more of these terrorists are regrouping in many places around Takum Local Government Area in places like New Gboko and others and in Donga Local Government Area along the Donga River and Ananum. The news of these attacks is deepening thr fear and anxiety of the people leading to their mass exodus to unknown destinations without any hope in sight,” the diocese said.

Its Bishop, Mark Maigida Nzukwein, called on deans, priests and concerned persons of the aforementioned areas to sensitise their people and take necessary precautionary measures to stay safe.

“Deans should particularly reach out to security agencies in their jurisdictions and draw their attention to this pending attacks so as to beef up security in order to avert the looming humanitarian disaster,” the statement advised.

The latest alarm came amid renewed terrorists’ attacks in several places in the state, underscoring the urgent need for the government to intensify efforts to ensure safety of lives and property across the country.
