Lokoja, March 26, 2026 (NAN) Mr Anslem Ojodomo, a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration, Kogi State Polytechnic, Anslem Ojodomo, has died in class while teaching in a class.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Salihu Avidime, confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the Acting Co-ordinator, Directorate of Public Relations in the institution, John Onimisi, on Friday.
The tragic incident is coming just a month after another lecturer, Dr Barnabas Akuba, passed away shortly after completing his PhD programme.
Mr Ojodomo’s death sparked concern and fear among staff and students, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the sudden deaths.
The rector, in the statement, extended heartfelt condolences to the community and family of the late Mr Ojodomo, describing the news as a “deep personal shock.”
Mr Avidime recalled a meeting with the late Ojodomo just hours before his death, where they exchanged pleasantries and shook hands.
The rector praised the late lecturer as a dedicated staff member, humble and committed to excellence, who distinguished himself as a student and lecturer.
“The polytechnic community is mourning the loss of a promising academic and dependable colleague, who embodied scholarship, service, and character.
“Ojodomo’s contributions as Deputy Dean, Students Services, and lecturer are remembered as impactful and inspiring,” Mr Avidime said.
Meanwhile, some students who witnessed the incident and spoke on condition of anonymity said that Mr Ojodomo collapsed while addressing them.
The students said that he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.
They said that the polytechnic community had been left in a state of uncertainty with two lecturers lost in quick succession.
The late Ojodomo born on October 5, was a dedicated lecturer with master’s degrees from the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, where he recently defended his Ph.D proposal.
