Dismissed soldier remanded for parading self as army official

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Wednesday, remanded a 31-year-old man, Solomon Ugor, for pleading guilty to parading himself as a soldier.
The Magistrate, A J Aina ordered his remand at the Nigerian Custodial Centre in Badagry until April 13, for fact and sentencing.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector, Friday Maneh, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 13, at about 1.00.p.m, along Badagry Agbara expressway, Badagry, Lagos.
The prosecutor said that the defendant unlawfully wore a Nigerian Army face cap, knowing that he had been dismissed from the Nigerian Army since 2020.
“He was later arrested and handed over to Police for prosecution. The offence contravenes the provision of Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” he said.
