Eatery guard arraigned for allegedly injuring customer

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a fast food store security guard, Ephraim Elisha, in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja, for allegedly injuring a customer, Samaila Muhammed, on the head.
The prosecution counsel, Sunny Emmanuel, told the court that the complainant, Muhammed, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on March 24.
Emmanuel alleged that the complainant drove to “Chicken Republic” premises on the said day to purchase something to eat and unfortunately had a disagreement with the defendant.
He further alleged that the defendant assaulted the complainant and he sustained injuries on his head.
The prosecution counsel said that the complainant was rushed to Gwarinpa General hospital for treatment and spent N157,000 on medical bills.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 247 of the Penal Code.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 bail with one reliable surety who must be an employee of a private or public organisation.
Mr Sadiq ordered that the surety should provide his employment letter, National Identity Management Commission (NIMSC), voter and identity cards.
He added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means of livelihood and reside within the court’s jurisdiction and address verified by the court’s registrar.
He adjourned the matter until June 25 for hearing.
