Enugu: Over 1,000 NSCDC operatives to provide security during Easter

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 1,322 personnel for special Easter operations in Enugu.
The command’s spokeswoman, Pamela Chukwu, disclosed this on Thursday.
Ms Chukwu said that the command, under the leadership of its commandant, Elijah Willie, had strategically made deployment across the state to ensure adequate security coverage during the Easter celebration.
According to her, the proactive deployment is aimed at safeguarding lives and property, maintaining public order, and ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration throughout the state.
“The personnel have been tactically positioned in identified flashpoints and areas considered vulnerable based on intelligence reports and past security assessments.
“These locations include major worship centres, motor parks, markets, recreational centres, highways, critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as other public places expected to witness high human and vehicular traffic during the festive period.
“In addition, special attention has been given to areas prone to security breaches, including black spots and densely populated urban centres. Operational teams, including the Anti-Vandal Unit, Rapid Response Unit, Intelligence Department, and Disaster Management Unit, have been placed on high alert to respond promptly to any emergencies,” she said.
The spokeswoman said that patrol teams would conduct both day and night surveillance operations, while rapid response squads had been stationed at strategic points to ensure swift intervention when necessary.
Ms Chukwu added that the command had also intensified collaboration with other security agencies to strengthen inter-agency synergy and intelligence sharing.
“Residents of the state are hereby advised to remain vigilant, adhere to all security guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.
“The command reiterates that security is a collective responsibility and urges full cooperation from members of the public.
“The command remains committed to its mandate of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as ensuring the safety and security of all citizens before, during, and after the Easter celebrations,” she said.
