Championship side Southampton dump Arsenal out of FA Cup

Arsenal lost to Championship side Southampton, who knocked out the Gunners 2–1 at St Mary’s Stadium, ending Mikel Arteta’s treble hopes.
The crucial FA Cup tie saw Southampton shock the Premier League leaders, with the Championship side scoring first through a brilliant strike from Ross Stewart in the 35th minute, assisted by James Bree.
After an intense first half and several missed opportunities by the visitors, Arsenal levelled the game in the 68th minute with a goal from Viktor Gyokeres, who produced a perfect finish off an effort from Kai Havertz.
However, after the equaliser, Arteta’s side couldn’t pull through, as Southampton held on and won the tie with an 85th-minute winner from Shea Charles to book their spot in the semifinals at Wembley and progress as the only non-Premier League team left in the competition.
The Gunners travel to Portugal to face Sporting in their Champions League campaign.
The defeat comes days after Arsenal lost 2–0 to Manchester City at Wembley, thanks to a brilliant brace from Nico O’Reilly.
