A 2023 presidential candidate under Labour Party, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast despite the country’s economic and governance challenges, saying Easter symbolises renewal and a brighter future.

In his Easter message posted on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, Mr Obi urged citizens not to lose faith. He stated that difficult times are temporary and can lead to national rebirth if Nigerians remain resilient and committed to the common good.

“Let Easter give us hope of a better Nigeria ahead,” he said, adding that the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ offers a powerful reminder that “Good Friday must come before Easter Sunday.”

He acknowledged the hardship faced by many families due to the current economic situation, saying he shares in their struggles and understands the heavy burden on citizens.

“These difficult moments are temporary trials, our collective cross that can lead to renewal if we remain resilient,” Mr Obi stated.

According to him, a better nation is achievable through accountability, compassion, and responsible leadership.

“Easter reminds us that after sacrifice comes renewal, and after darkness comes light,” he said. “A better Nigeria is possible when we, together, choose accountability, compassion, and responsible leadership.”

“Though the road may be rough, we believe in a Nigeria that works for everyone,” he added.

Mr Obi further urged Nigerians to use the Easter season as a time to renew faith, strengthen resolve, and commit to building a just and prosperous country.

“May this Easter renew our faith, strengthen our resolve, and inspire us to work together for a just and prosperous nation. Happy Easter,” Mr Obi said.
