The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, said on Tuesday that he and 14 million fellow Iranians are ready to sacrifice their lives to defend the nation.

Speaking on his verified X account (formerly Twitter), Mr Pezeshkian wrote in Arabic, with an English translation: “More than 14 million proud Iranians have so far registered to sacrifice their lives to defend Iran. I too have been, am, and will remain devoted to giving my life for Iran.”

His statement comes amid rising tensions in the region, with U.S. President Donald Trump setting a Tuesday deadline for potential strikes on Iranian power stations and bridges if Tehran does not ease its control over the Strait of Hormuz.
