FG digitises authentication, evaluation of academic credentials

The Federal Ministry of Education says it has fully automated the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials as part of efforts to enhance transparency, improve data management and strengthen public service delivery.
Folasade Boriowo, director of press and public relations in the ministry, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
Mrs Boriowo said the initiative aligned with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda, which aims to deploy modern technology to improve efficiency and data integrity, and to support evidence-based policy decisions in the education sector.
According to her, all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will henceforth be processed strictly online, through the official verification portal.
Boriowo directed applicants seeking authentication or evaluation services to register and upload relevant supporting documents via sss.enquiry@education.gov.ng.
She also advised applicants to contact their respective awarding institutions to forward academic transcripts directly from official institutional email addresses to ess1@education.gov.ng for verification and processing.
She emphasised that applicants were no longer required to visit the ministry physically for verification, as the entire process would now be conducted electronically.
She said that the transition to a fully automated platform was expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time and further strengthen the integrity and credibility of academic credential verification in Nigeria.
