NIPR inducts 109 members, fellows

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has reiterated its commitment to nation building as it inducted 109 new members and fellows during the ongoing Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW 2026) in Kaduna.
The president of NIPR, Ike Neliaku, made this known on the sidelines of the event, noting that the institute would continue to support initiatives that strengthen national development.
Mr Neliaku disclosed that the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication recently recognised NIPR for upholding its reputation as its core asset.
He added that the institute had also developed one of the most robust global frameworks for measuring reputation, stressing the need for collective efforts to sustain Nigeria’s image.
According to him, fellows of the institute are selected through a rigorous process that aligns with global best practices.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, urged public relations practitioners to deploy their expertise in tackling misinformation, distrust and division in the country.
Mr Kalu said effective communication, active listening and sincerity in service would enhance democratic growth and national development.
He expressed appreciation to the institute for the recognition bestowed on him and other honourees.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to promoting freedom of speech and inclusiveness.
He described NIPR as one of the most reputable professional bodies within and outside Nigeria.
20 fellows were conferred at the event, including veteran broadcaster, Moji Makanjuola, Bassey and Ekaette Ebong, among others.
17 personalities were also conferred with honorary fellowships including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Minister of Defence, and the Minister of State for Works.
Others include Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of JAMB, and Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, among others.
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of the institute’s fourth register, while Vice President of NIPR, Emmanuel Dandaura also provided progress report on the ongoing construction of Reputation House Abuja
Meanwhile the association also held its 63rd Annual General Meeting, and Federal Capital territory FCT Chapter won the bid to host the 2027 Nigeria Public Relations Week which is slated for April 19-24,2027.
