Gov Sanwo-Olu swears in permanent secretaries, health commission members

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday swore in seven permanent secretaries and five members of the Lagos State Health Service Commission.
The ceremony held at Lagos House in Ikeja drew senior officials, civil servants, and family members, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on continuity and institutional stability.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said the appointments were strategic to strengthening governance and accelerating delivery across key sectors, including health, innovation and public administration.
He congratulated the appointees and urged them to advance his administration’s agenda through ministries, departments and agencies.
He charged them to serve with diligence, independence and a firm commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.
“Congratulations to you all. You have been selected based on performance and merit. A lot is expected from you.
“Your elevation is not ceremonial. It is a call to deepen reforms and ensure public institutions respond effectively to citizens’ needs.
“Continue to drive innovation and be fair in all you do,” the governor said, urging transparency and accountability in decision-making.
He also announced Kayode Oguntimehin as chairman of the Lagos State Health Service Commission.
Mr Sanwo-Olu urged the appointees to set clear benchmarks, uphold integrity and sustain the state’s culture of effective leadership.
He emphasised collaboration, urging permanent secretaries to align policies with measurable outcomes and maintain strong coordination across ministries.
He called for diligence, efficiency and responsiveness in delivering measurable outcomes for residents.
In response, the appointees thanked the governor for the opportunity and pledged professionalism and dedication to advancing the state’s development.
They assured residents of improved service delivery and said they would prioritise efficiency, transparency, and people-centred policies in their offices.
Earlier, head of service, Bode Agoro, said the appointments reflected equity and transparency.
Mr Agoro said the selection process followed established guidelines, ensuring competence, fairness and representation across the state’s public service structure.
He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through meaningful contributions to governance and service delivery.
Among the deployments, Busola Durodola joins the Local Government Service Commission, while Olubunmi Oladeji moves to the Cabinet Office.
Others include Tiwalade Shorongbe, who is at the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.
The governor expressed confidence that the new officials would strengthen institutional capacity and sustain Lagos State’s trajectory of reform and service excellence.
