The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Sector Command, has said that no lives were lost in an accident that occurred at about 10:00 am on Saturday at the Molete Under Bridge area of Ibadan.

Videos and pictures of the scene obtained by the Peoples Gazette showed a tricycle and multiple motorcycles badly damaged from the accident.

The state’s deputy corps commander, Bayode Olugbesan, in an interview with The Gazette, said a preliminary investigation revealed that the incident involved a truck carrying a container that overturned and crushed a tricycle and 10 motorcycles.

“The accident involved a truck, a tricycle and about ten motorcycles, making a total of twelve vehicles. Five adults were involved in the incident. There are three males and two females,” Mr Olugbesan said.

“Four of the five adults, two males and two females, sustained injuries, while only one person was unharmed. No fatalities were recorded,” he said.

The commander admonished road users to regularly conduct routine checks on their trucks and ensure that their containers are firmly attached.

“Our recommendation is that drivers should always carry out routine maintenance of their vehicle and ensure that their containers are properly latched,” he stated.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Adesagba Adekoya, told The Gazette that the truck driver has been arrested and is currently being detained at the Felele Police Division in the state.
