The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has announced that its welfare bus scheme will commence operations on April 27 in Abuja.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.

Ms Adeh said the scheme, approved by the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr Olatunji Disu, was initiated to enhance personnel welfare and address their transportation challenges.

According to her, under the scheme, three Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses have been deployed to ply designated routes in the territory and its environs.

“The first bus, with registration number NPF 7993 D, will operate from the Goshen, Auta-Balefi axis, passing through Masaka, Mararaba, and Nyanya, and terminating at Area 11 Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“The second bus, with registration number NPF 7994 D, will take off from Zuba Divisional Headquarters.

“It will move through Madalla, Abubakar Police Barracks, Brick City, Kubwa, Dutse Junction, and the Secretariat, also terminating at Area 11 Force Headquarters.

“The third bus, with registration number NPF 7992 D, will operate from Kuje Divisional Headquarters, covering Kuje Police Barracks, Airport Road, Lugbe, and the Stadium axis, terminating at Area 11 Force Headquarters,” she said.

Ms Adeh said all the buses were scheduled to depart their respective take-off points daily by 6:15 am.

She said the Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the FCT, Ahmed Sanusi, had commended the IG for the initiative.

The CP said the initiative clearly reflected the IG’s commitment to improving the welfare, working conditions, and overall well-being of police personnel.

Mr Sanusi urged officers and men of the command to take full advantage of the scheme, adding that the improved welfare was directly linked to enhanced service delivery, discipline, and operational efficiency.
