Trump’s image to appear on U.S. passports for 250th independence anniversary

“While the booklet will feature enhanced imagery, it will maintain the same security features,” he said.

The U.S. Department of State is preparing to issue “limited edition” passports featuring President Donald Trump’s portrait to mark America’s 250th independence day anniversary in July.

The State Department spokesperson Tommy Piggot disclosed in a post on X on Tuesday that the passports were specially designed to celebrate “this historic occasion.”

Mr Piggot noted that while the booklet will feature “enhanced imagery,” it will maintain the “same security features that make the U.S. passport the most secure document in the world.”

The design shared on the department’s social media page shows Mr Trump’s portrait superimposed on the Declaration of Independence on the inside cover, while another page features America’s founding fathers.

Since assuming office, Mr Trump has had his face and signature on federal institutions and programmes.

In December 2025, the White House announced that the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC, had been renamed the Trump Kennedy Centre, a move that drew criticism from democrats and Mr Kennedy’s family.

Similarly, the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) building in Washington was renamed the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace last December, following the Department of State’s rebranding.

The department said on social media that the renaming aimed “to reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history” and added, “the best is yet to come.”

In February, a large banner showing Mr Trump’s face was hung outside the Justice Department headquarters. Critics argued that it eroded the DoJ’s independence from White House control.

The Commission of Fine Arts, appointed by the president, also approved in March a commemorative coin for the U.S. anniversary featuring Mr Trump’s likeness.
