Kano medical outreach targets 1,500 women, children across 44 LGAs
The Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN) will hold a major medical outreach in Kano State, targeting underserved communities, especially women and children, as part of its ongoing humanitarian interventions efforts.
The National Coordinator of the group, Dr Fauziya Buhari-Ado, said this during an interview on Friday in Abuja while outlining key objectives of the programme.
Ms Buhari-Ado, who also serves as special assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on School Feeding Programme, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for its support for the initiative so far.
She said that the success of the initiative was made possible through collaboration with relevant agencies and stakeholders, describing the partnership as critical to delivering essential services effectively for needy communities.
She said the initiative was expected to benefit about 1,500 women and children drawn from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state during the exercise.
She added that free medications and medical tests would be provided at the event slated for Saturday, while referrals would be arranged for patients with more serious health conditions as necessary.
She said that, in addition to healthcare services, food items including immune boosters and other nutrient-rich supplies would be distributed to beneficiaries between Saturday and Sunday during the outreach programme period.
Ms Buhari-Ado stated that the outreach was designed to support vulnerable groups, in line with the Kano State Government development agenda, aimed at improving health outcomes and social welfare indicators across communities.
The wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Martina Yilwatda, is expected to grace the event as a special guest of honour during scheduled outreach.
The Women in Leadership Advancement Network is a non-profit organisation founded in 2018, dedicated to connecting Nigerian women leaders across political, economic and public sectors for collaboration and empowerment initiatives nationwide.
