Alleged cultist nabbed with gun, military kits in Niger: Police
The police command in Niger says it has arrested a suspected cultist, Agada Isaac, with a pistol and military items in the Bida LGA.
The command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this on Tuesday, stating that the suspect was arrested at about 2 a.m. on April 22, 2026, at a lodge near Federal Polytechnic Bida.
“On 22nd April, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m., police operatives attached to ‘B’ Div Bida, while on routine patrol, arrested one Agada Isaac aka Tee-light, 30 years of age, at a lodge around Federal Polytechnic Bida,” he said.
Mr Abiodun stated that the suspect was sighted on a motorcycle approaching a temporary police checkpoint but fled upon noticing the operatives, raising suspicion.
He added, “The suspect was chased by the Police team, arrested, and during the spot search, he was found with a Beretta pistol. In a further search of his residence, a military camouflage cap, knickers, and a jacket were recovered.”
He said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Vikings cult group, adding that he bought the pistol from one Gideon, a.k.a. Starboy, who resides in Suleja, for ₦300,000.
The suspect also claimed to be a campus photographer and said a friend gave him the military paraphernalia.
