Kogi inaugurates NG-CARES 2.0 steering committee to alleviate poverty

The Kogi government has inaugurated the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus 2.0 State Steering Committee to alleviate poverty.
The state secretary to the government, Folashade Ayoade, inaugurated the 13-member committee to provide the necessary framework for the successful implementation of the programme on behalf of Governor Ahmed Ododo on Thursday in Lokoja.
Ms Ayoade said the programme was designed to alleviate the sufferings of vulnerable persons, particularly women and children.
She described NG-CARES as a humanitarian programme aimed at improving the welfare of residents, particularly in rural communities, through strategic oversight and policy guidelines.
According to her, women and children remain the programme’s major beneficiaries due to their critical social and economic needs.
She explained that the committee would use all necessary resources and policies needed to aid adequate provision for the effective implementation of the programme across communities in the state.
Ms Ayoade added that the committee was expected to formulate policies to ensure that rural dwellers benefit fully from the NG-CARES initiative.
She stressed that the programme aligned with the vision of Mr Ododo’s administration to improve people’s living conditions and reduce poverty across Kogi.
