Two pregnant women, nine family members killed in fresh Plateau attack

Suspected bandits have killed 11 people in a midnight attack on the Ngbra Zongo community in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources said the attackers stormed the community at about 11 p.m. on Thursday, shooting at residents during the raid.
Moses Gata, chief of staff to the chairman of Bassa LGA, confirmed the attack to the Peoples Gazette in a telephone interview, saying 11 persons were killed while 10 others were hospitalised.
“11 people were killed and 10 hospitalised. The victims were killed inside their room, but only one was killed outside while trying to escape during the attack,” he told The Gazette.
The victims were identified as Sunday Hwie, 60; Rikwe Danjuma, 37; Paul Musa, 35; Gabriel Sunday, 17; Festus Sunday, 3; Sibi Friday, 23; Alheri Monday, 19; Friday Monday, 26; and Deh Sunday.
The two pregnant women killed in the attack were identified as Eunice Samuel, 25, and Laraba Sunday, 29.
According to Mr Gata, the victims included pregnant women, children, and elderly persons, while 10 others survived gunshot wounds and machete cuts.
He also stated that nine members of the same family were killed in the attack.
Efforts to reach Alfred Alabo, the police spokesperson in the state, were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls or respond to a text message sent to him.
