Ten-year-old girl shot as gunmen abduct businessman at residence in Oyo LG

The police command in Oyo State said a man, identified as Wasiu Aleshinloye, was abducted by three suspected gunmen on Monday at Irawo area, Ago-Are, Atisbo Local Government Area of the state.

A statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that preliminary investigation showed that the victim was trailed from Kraal Market, located in Ago-Are, to his fuel station at Irawo.

Mr Olayinka said the victim was later trailed by three suspected gunmen to his residence and abducted at gunpoint to an unknown destination.

“I can confirm to you that a case of abduction was reported at Tede Division on 11/05/2026 at about 2220hrs,” the police spokesman stated.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye was allegedly trailed from Kraal Market, Ago-Are, to his filling station at Irawo and subsequently to his residence at Irawo, where he was abducted at gunpoint by three armed men to a yet-to-be identified destination,” he said.

Mr Olayinka stated that a 10-year-old girl, identified as Modinat Aleshinloye, sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.

“One Modinat Aleshinloye ‘F,’ aged 10 years, sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention and extraction of pellets,” Mr Olayinka said.

He noted that police detectives who visited the scene of the incident found three expended shells of ammunition and three face caps currently being examined.

“Tactical and intelligence-driven efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators,” the spokesman said.
