The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has screened 45 aspirants for the May 21 state and national assembly primary elections in Cross River State.

The Secretary, PDP, Cross River, Joe Bisong, made the disclosure in an interview with journalists in Calabar on Wednesday.

Mr Bisong said that the Fred Osim-led five-member panel screened 33 aspirants for House of Assembly positions.

He added that the panel screened three aspirants for Senate and nine for House of Representatives.

The secretary said that the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in governance had prepared grounds for PDP to excel.

He stated, “PDP is the only political party that can guarantee Nigeria’s democracy. I can assure you that we have been tested and proven worthy of being trusted.

“We have seen the performance of APC since 2015. Nigerians will decide who will govern them after the 2027 elections.”

Mr Bisong said that the party had enough following and support to win election at various levels.
