17 cops, several soldiers killed in Yobe terror attack
The police said seventeen (17) officers and several soldiers were in a terror attack on the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, in a statement on Saturday said the 17 policemen were killed on May 8, 2026 as the “officers were undergoing specialized operational training at the institution.”
“Several gallant personnel of the Nigerian Army also made the ultimate sacrifice while courageously repelling the attack,” Mr Placid said.
The police spokesperson said the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, conveyed heartfelt condolences of the entire Force to the bereaved families, assuring them that the sacrifices of the deceased officers would never be forgotten.
