Mbah hails CCCC for infrastructure delivery in Enugu
Governor Peter Mbah has commended China Communications Construction Company for delivering fast, high-quality road infrastructure across Enugu.
He gave the commendation on Sunday while inspecting ongoing road and infrastructure projects ahead of their planned inauguration across the state.
Projects inspected included the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, the 14.5-kilometre Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, the New Enugu Smart City, and the Enugu International Hospital.
At the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Ikem corridor, Mbah expressed satisfaction with the contractors’ progress and pace of work on site.
“We gave contractors a strict timeline of the end of May to deliver the road, with several workforce streams deployed. They deployed multiple teams and worked day and night to meet the deadline and avoid penalties for any time overrun.
“We have released funds promptly, and expect completion soon, with ribbon cutting planned in the coming weeks. The administration prioritises quality alongside speed, and CCCC remains a top global contractor protecting its reputation,” the governor said.
Mr Mbah described the road as a strategic gateway linking Enugu State with Northern Nigeria and surrounding regions.
“We are 600 metres from Obollo Afor road, opening direct access to the North Central and Abuja corridors,” he said.
The road will boost agriculture and trade and unlock economic opportunities for communities along the entire corridor. According to the governor, the projects aim to position Enugu as a leading destination for investment, tourism, business, and improved living standards.
Mr Mbah reaffirmed his commitment to rural road expansion, including Enugu-Ugwogo Nike-Opi Nsukka dualisation and other ongoing projects. He listed Ama-Eke-Oghe-Iwolo-Olo-Umulokpa Road and a 52.2-kilometre link connecting several towns across the state.
At Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, he disclosed plans to extend the road to Nkanu East headquarters.
Mr Mbah also praised the New Enugu Smart City project, where a 6.5-kilometre dual carriageway has already been completed.
