Arsenal tighten grip on Premier League title race with victory over Burnley

Arsenal are one away win from winning the Premier League for the first time in 22 years after a narrow 1-0 win over relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute when he headed home a corner kick by Bukayo Saka, securing the important three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The victory took Arsenal’s tally this season to 82 points, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have one game in hand against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Arsenal might not need to wait until the final match of the season next Sunday to celebrate, as they would be crowned champions if City fail to win their match tomorrow.
Speaking after Monday’s match, Arteta thanked fans for their support during the course of the season, adding that he looked forward to seeing them in the final two games against Crystal Palace and Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.
He said, “Thank you. It’s an absolute joy to witness the transformation and the contribution each of you have had to turn this place into the most beautiful place to enjoy and to play our football.
“This is the soul of this football club and each of you contribute to that – so make sure every time you step into this stadium you keep it at this standard because it makes such a difference to all of us and to all of these players.
“I’ll see you at Selhurst Park and in Budapest – but for this amazing group of players and staff, a big round of applause.”
