Gunmen’s attack on Katsina village leaves 10 dead

Armed bandits attacked Guga village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least 10 people.
Peoples Gazette learnt on Monday that the attackers stormed the community on Sunday and opened fire on residents.
“The incident happened at about 4:00 p.m. in Guga, as yesterday was the market day of the community,” a reliable source in the area told the Gazette.
The source added that several traders and residents were in the market when the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and began shooting sporadically.
“Within the settlement, 10 people were killed. They rustled many cattle and livestock. They also injured some people, while some were transferred to Funtua Hospital,” the source explained.
He also disclosed that the gunmen burnt several houses during the attack, noting that no abduction was recorded.
The Katsina governor’s director-general on media and publicity, Maiwada Dan Malam, did not immediately return a request for comment from the Gazette.
