Wizkid, Asake, Tems, Burna Boy bag 2026 BET Awards nominations

Afrobeats superstars Wizkid, Asake, Tems and Burna Boy have been nominated for the 2026 BET Awards.
Tems led the Afrobeats nominees with three nominations, while Wizkid, Asake, and Burna Boy each received one nomination in the major categories.
The ‘Gangsta’ crooner secured nominations for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award and the Viewers’ Choice Award for her collaboration with UK rapper Dave on “Raindance”.
Burna Boy earned a nomination in the Best Collaboration category alongside American rapper Gunna for their hit track “WGFT” off his album, The Last Wun.
Wizkid and Asake were also nominated in the Best Group category following their successful musical partnership and chart success across several hit songs.
American rapper Cardi B leads this year’s list with six nominations, including Album of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Video Director of the Year and Viewers’ Choice Award.
Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind with five nominations, while Mariah the Scientist, Texans Taylor, Doechii, Olivia Dean and Latto each earned four nominations.
Several top acts also secured three nominations each, including A$AP Rocky, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, Jill Scott, Kehlani, Metro Boomin, SZA, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, T.I. and YK Niece.
Culture’s biggest night returns on Sunday, June 28, with comedian Druski hosting this year’s edition of the BET Awards.
The 2026 BET Awards have also introduced two new categories, the ‘Fashion Vanguard Award’ and ‘Pulse Award.’
