Police confirm rescue of kidnapped Ekiti council vice-chairwoman
The police command in Ekiti have confirmed the rescue of the vice-chairman of Ilejemeje LGA, Grace Ogunleye, who was kidnapped on Wednesday while returning home.
The command confirmed this in a statement by its spokesman, Sunday Abutu, on Thursday.
Mr Abutu said the victim regained her freedom following a joint rescue operation involving the police, the military, other security agencies and local security personnel.
According to him, sustained pressure mounted by the security team on the suspected kidnappers led to the successful rescue.
He added that the police commissioner, Falade Adegoroye, ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction and apprehend those responsible.
