Nigerian youth who stole wrappers sentenced to 30 months in jail

The Jos Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 23-year-old labourer, Shuiabu Abubakar, to 30 months’ imprisonment for stealing wrappers and clothing from a shop.
Mr Abubakar pleaded guilty to trespass, mischief and theft.
The magistrate, Hannatu Ashom, however, gave Mr Abubakar an option of a N180,000 fine.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station by the complainant, Shakira Abdullazeez.
Mr Gokwat said the convict broke into the complainant’s shop and stole Ankara wrappers and clothing materials worth N158,000.
During the police investigation, the prosecution said, some of the stolen materials were recovered from the convict.
