Eid-el-Kabir: Bauchi govt begins distribution of rams to vulnerable groups

The Bauchi State Government has begun the distribution of sacrificial animals to vulnerable families and groups to enable them observe the Eid festivities in a good mood.
Aminu Hammayo, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), said this at the inauguration of the distribution exercise on Saturday in Bauchi.
He said the animals would be distributed to vulnerable persons, groups, political and traditional leaders, security agencies and other segments of society.
Mr Hammayo highlighted that the season calls for sacrifice, unity and compassion.
“It is a period for communities to come together and share in the blessings of the celebration,” he said.
Mr Hammayo said that Governor Bala Mohammed had directed the distribution committee to source the animals from local markets across the state.
The gesture, he said, would support livestock traders and animal rearers, boost livelihoods and enhance wealth creation in society.
“The initiative aims at ensuring that citizens celebrate the festival in comfort and happiness.
“The gesture reflects the compassionate and people-oriented leadership of Gov. Bala Mohammed, who consistently prioritised the welfare of the people,” he said.
Also, Amina Katagum, Commissioner for Budget and Humanitarian Affairs, lauded the initiative, adding it would improve the social and economic wellbeing of the people.
