Niger govt seeks swift justice over slain youth leader

Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba of Niger has called on relevant authorities to ensure swift justice over the killing of the president of the Minna Emirate Youth Association, Jaafar Dabawu.
Mr Garba made the call in a statement on Friday while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the incident.
Mr Dabawu was allegedly murdered at his residence around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
The deputy governor described the incident as tragic, painful and heartbreaking, noting that losing a loved one under such circumstances was devastating.
He prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
Mr Garba also urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as investigations into the incident continued. He reaffirmed the Niger government’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
According to him, the administration of Governor Umaru Bago will continue to support security agencies in preventing similar occurrences and in ensuring that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.
