Nasarawa lawmaker quits APC after primary election drama

A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Mohammed Omadefu, has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.
Mr Omadefu (APC-Keana) confirmed the development in Lafia on Tuesday.
He stated that he had addressed his resignation letter to the APC chairman of his Obene electoral ward.
According to him, the decision was prompted by the ill treatment he endured and the disregard of his constituents’ requests during and after the recently concluded APC primaries.
The second-term lawmaker said the party was no longer a welcoming environment for him, prompting his decision to seek an alternative political platform.
Mr Omadefu assured his constituents that he would inform them of his next line of action in due course.
Mr Omadefu was initially declared the winner of the Keana Assembly primary, but the decision was later overturned, and Isa Abdullahi Igbo was announced as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.
