Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, a former Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) presidential aspirant for the 2027 elections, has urged Nigerians not to give up on the country but to remain hopeful about possible transformation.

Mrs Busari-Akinnadeju, in a statement on Saturday in Akure, enjoined Nigerians not to be fearful or intimidated.

She noted that with one purpose and unity, ‘Nigerians would reclaim their land from elements of destruction and those who profitted on the pains of others’.

Mrs Busari-Akinnadeju, who unveiled her “Dare Agenda” barely 48 hours after her resignation from the DLA following the primaries, said Nigeria could reclaim its glory if all hands were on deck.

According to her, the 2027 general elections is an opportunity to choose credible leaders to champion the course of the common man and take the country to the next level.

She lauded various Nigerian women who made it through the primaries of political parties.

“This marks a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

“The unprecedented number of women stepping forward to contest the 2027 general election stands as living proof of what the DARE Agenda is set out to achieve.

“This is not a coincidence , it is the result of deliberate, sustained work to ensure that Nigerian women are not merely observers of power, but its rightful holders.

“I believe our movement will inspire more women to aspire to the highest office in the country.

“With this milestone of more women aspiring for the office of the Nigerian president, my attention now turns to the next phase of the mission: returning to the race of the people.

“Working with the people of Nigeria to deliver credible leadership,” she said.

Mrs Busari-Akinnadeju said high-level engagements would commence with purposeful, strategic conversations aimed at repositioning those who held the power in Nigeria: the people themselves.

“Sovereignty belongs to the people and we must return power to the people.

“Section 14(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria declares, unequivocally, that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.

“That provision is not merely a legal text; it is a mandate, a promise, and a charge. Nigerians, in all their diversity, resilience, and determination are the heartbeat of this work. The journey continues,” she said.
