On Monday, four persons appeared before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for stealing scaffold and iron rods worth N28 million. The defendants are facing a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and felony, to which they pleaded not guilty.

They are Olamide Waris, 24, Abdulbasit Sadiq, 26, Oloyede Oluwafemi, 23, and Precious Osunji, 33.

The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others still at large committed the offences at Laralek Ultimate Limited, Canaanland, Ota.

He alleged that the defendants and their accomplices conspired to steal a scaffold and iron rods worth N28 million belonging to their employer.

Mr Adaraloye said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 390, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail of N2 million with one surety in like sum.

Ms Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.

The case was adjourned until June 19 for further hearing.
