Nasarawa assembly passes public health security, multi-door courthouse bills

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the Public Health Security Framework Bill and the Nasarawa State Multi-Door Courthouse Bill.
Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, announced the passage of both bills during plenary in Lafia.
“A Bill for a Law to make provisions for Regulating the Public Health Security Framework for Nasarawa State and Other Matters Connected Thereto has been read for the third time and passed,” Mr Jatau said.
The speaker said the bill would help create a safe environment for people and animals, among other benefits in the state.
He directed the clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for onwards transmission to Governor Abdullahi Sule for assent.
“Mr Clerk is hereby directed to produce a clean copy of the bill for my perusal before onwards transmission to His Excellency for his assent,” he said.
Earlier, Deputy Majority Leader, Abel Bala, moved a motion for the bill to scale the third reading, while Minority Leader, Luka Zhekaba, seconded the motion.
The House unanimously passed the bill after the third reading.
The assembly also passed a bill for a law to establish the Nasarawa State Multi-Door Courthouse and other matters connected thereto.
Mr Jatau said the bill was aimed at addressing conflicts and small claims, thereby promoting peace and development in the state.
The speaker directed the clerk to produce a clean copy for the governor’s assent.
Deputy Majority Leader, Abel Yakubu-Bala, moved a motion for the passage of the bill, while Minority Leader, Luka Iliya-Zhekaba, seconded the motion.
The House unanimously passed the bill after the third reading.
