Five of the eight worshippers abducted in the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Omugo, Ifelodun LGA of the Kwara in March, have been reportedly killed by their abductors.

The church’s pastor, Rev Sunday Omole, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said one of the escaped victims, identified as Sunday Bakare, stated this while narrating his ordeal to the church.

Mr Omole added that the remaining three abductees still languish in terrorists’ den.

“It is with deep pain in my heart that I inform the church, families and individual concerned in regard to the 8 people that were abducted from ECWA OMUGO on 22nd of March, 2026.

“We received one of our son’s, Mr Sunday Bakare also abducted over a month ago, he escaped and brought the following news that only 3 out of 8 of our people are remaining with the kidnappers. The remaining 5 have gone to be with the Lord,” the statement stated.

The clergyman noted that the five abductees killed by the terrorists include David Omopariola, Joseph Ibitoye Afariogun, Iyabo Aniyi, Joshua Akanbi Adeyemi and Rachel Oluwaremilekun Omole (the pastor’s wife).

He urged members to remain steadfast and believe in the will of God.

“Brethren, let’s know that God knows why He allows this to happen. The great comforter will comfort us in Jesus name, amen,” Mr Omole added.

Recall that bandits had in March invaded an ECWA church during a service in Omugo community, Ifelodun LGA and kidnapped about eight worshippers.

The state Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said the government had directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the abductees.

While several citizens had been killed by the bloodthirsty terrorists, a number of others, including the 176 people kidnapped in Woro in February, still languish in captivity.
