The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says major infrastructure projects across Abuja city centre and satellite towns are now 100 per cent completed and ready for inauguration.

Mr Wike stated this after inspecting some ongoing projects in Abuja on Thursday, saying the projects would be inaugurated to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.

Mr Wike said that the development stride in the FCT was a clear demonstration of Mr Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” delivering dividends of democracy to Abuja residents.

The minister, who inspected several project sites, beginning with the Jahi-Wuye interchange, expressed delight with the quality of work done.

Mr Wike also inspected the Airport Road to Kuje, being executed by Arab Contractors, and the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road project being executed by Gilmor.

He expressed delight at the seamless connectivity now available to commuters, noting the reduction in travel times.

He said, “You can see that you can drive from the city down to Kuje in less than 25 minutes,” highlighting the impact of the infrastructure on satellite towns.

On the remodelled iconic Abuja City Gate being rehabilitated by Julius Berger, Mr Wike noted plans to inaugurate the aesthetic appeal of the infrastructure at night.

According to him, the contractor has been requested to ensure the structure is fully illuminated nocturnally to showcase its true beauty to residents and visitors alike.

For the Outer Southern Expressway, the minister certified the engineering works and quality of the road project, reiterating that “governance in the FCT is firmly in action mode.”

He announced that the projects’ inauguration would begin on June 8 and last for 31 days.

He added, “When you do something and people are happy with what you are doing, you will also be happy.

“The ongoing transformation is a testament to the president’s commitment to rewriting the story of the nation’s capital.”
